Specific Queries

Q. Is there a difference in the cover for a professional instructor (paid by client) and a volunteer instructor?

A. Yes, instructors are only covered when working in a voluntary capacity (i.e. expense payment only). Professional full time instructors require their own cover.

Q. Does the 1.3 million cover extend to the UK? If so are there any special requirements?

A. The PI cover is for up to €1.3m and cover extends to the EU

Q. Is Europe included in the travel cover?

A. Cover extents to the EU.

Scenario Based Queries

Q. CI member goes on a river trip with a non-CI member and is injured by them, who’s covered?

A. CI member only.

Q. Is a level 2 instructor responsible for a group of less experienced paddlers on moving water?

A. Cover falls in line with the rules of the association

Q. A CI member injures themselves when lifting their boat in the clubhouse, does CI insurance cover them? 

A. Yes

Q. A CI member injures themselves when lifting their boat on the out of the river, does CI insurance cover them? 

A. Yes

Q. Is a CI member insured when paddling abroad on holiday?

A. Yes within EU.

Q. Is a CI member insured when participating in training abroad?

A. Yes within EU.

A. Libel, Slander, Defamation.

Q. A CI member accidentally injures another CI member during a polo game?

A. Yes

Q. If a kayak fell off a parked club trailer and hurt 1) a club member or 2) a member of the public; does the CI policy cover a claim made against the club in these cases.

A. Yes
