Canoeing Ireland’s Liam Jegou has become the first athlete to be officially announced for Team Ireland in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This is fantastic for both Liam, and canoeing in Ireland. For Liam this marks a chance to fulfil his dream of representing Ireland at an Olympic Games, and a chance to compete on the biggest stage in sport, showing all his hard work. And for Canoeing Ireland it is a dream come true to have Ireland represented once again in canoeing in the Olympics, and to be the first sport announced hopefully will mark the beginning of a new era in performance in paddlesports on the island.

The canoe slalom event in the Tokyo Olympic Games takes place from 26 – 31 July 2020 at the Kasai Canoe Slalom Course.
