With the spread of COVID-19 in Ireland being reduced further, the government has accelerated the easing of restrictions for Phase 2 which comes into effect from Monday 8th June. In light of these changes Canoeing Ireland have updated our Return to Paddling guidelines for our members and clubs, to help continue the excellent efforts being made by the paddlesports community. While the phases are being accelerated it is still vital to adhere to the guidelines to maintain the progress being made in fighting the virus.

The key updates to the Return to Paddling guidelines are –

  • Travel limits are in increased to 20km (if crossing county borders), or anywhere within your home county
  • Groups of up to 15 may engage in outdoor activity when social distancing is maintained
  • Groups of up to 6 may meet up for social activities when social distancing is maintained

For further guidlines and advice please consult the Return to Paddling guidelines –

If you have any further question around a return to activity or require further guidance around specific requirement for a return to any paddlesport activity please contact Canoeing Ireland.

We would like to congratulate and thank our members on their compliance with the restrictions so far, and look forward to seeing them all back out on the river very soon.
