Canoeing Ireland were delighted to be part of the Pride Paddle, which took place on Saturday 3rd June. As part of our focus on inclusion and diversity we were proud to support getting members of the LGBTQIA+ community out on the water and becoming a part of the paddlesports community.

The Inaugural Pride Paddle was blessed by the weather on Saturday. A fun-filled spin on the Liffey took in all the sights from the Poolbeg Yacht Club up to Grattan bridge and back.

With plenty of well-wishers along the way, and a glorious splash of colours on the water all 33 people made themselves, paddling, and Dublin proud.

Many thanks to all in Dublin City Council – Sport & Wellbeing, Poolbeg Sailing Centre, Sporting Pride, GoPaddle.ie, Quest Adventure Series, iCanoe, and the Dublin Pride Committee for helping to make it go so well! It takes a village to run these events.

Proud to be part of Irish LGBTQIA+ History! Ireland’s first Pride Paddle 🏳️‍🌈 !
