Paddle Able is a Canoeing Ireland initiative which aims to promote the inclusion of people with additional support needs whether through disability, impairment, medical condition or neurodiversity. Paddle Able includes many different programmes and projects all of which aim to promote the quality of experiences, opportunities and accessibility of paddlesports for everybody.

Over the past 6 months we have been working with a group of Paddle Able Ambassadors to create a series of videos telling their stories of joining paddlesports. We are excited to finally begin releasing the videos! This project aims to promote visibility of people of all abilities taking part in paddlesports and inspire others to do so too. Find out more by watching the first video in the series.

Over the next few weeks we will be releasing the ambassadors videos so keep an eye out and be sure to share the videos with anyone who might be inspired!

If you would like to find out more from any of the ambassadors you can contact them through us by emailing emer@canoe.ie

A massive thank you to everyone who was involved. Creating these videos would not have been possible without the ambassadors putting their hand up to be a part of the project, and being brave enough to share their experiences. We worked with Future Proof Media who helped to train and prep us for being on camera, a big thank you to the team for all of the learning! A special thank you to the volunteers who came along to assist with the programme, and to Sligo Kayak Club & Mallow Special Olympics Kayakers for facilitating our days on the water.

This project was funded by Canoeing Ireland & the Dormant Accounts Fund.
