Summary of Insurance Cover for Registered Members of Canoeing Ireland
Who is covered?
All registered members and affiliated clubs of Canoeing Ireland. Clubs and members must be registered with Canoeing Ireland on the membership system at the time of an incident for cover to apply.
Types of cover:
- Public/Products Liability
- Professional Indemnity
- Personal Accident
What does Public/Products Liability Insurance cover?
- Covers the association and/or members for claims brought against them by members of the public or members of the association arising from accidents for which they are held legally liable while engaging in insured activities.
- Covers the jurisdiction of ROI and Northern Ireland.
- Also covered are the association and individual members for claims against them for damage to a third parties property.
What is the limit of indemnity?
- Limit of indemnity β¬6,500,000 any one claim.
What activities does it cover?
- All paddling activities listed in the appendix of the new Constitution of Canoeing Ireland, which can be subject to change.
- Activities in conjunction with the promotion and development of the sport in Ireland.
- All approved club related activities
Example:
- Competitor injured whilst competing at an event β Junior member injured and argues the course was too technical for their experience level.
What does Professional Indemnity Insurance cover?
Covers board members/committee members/coaches/trainers against claims for advice given which leads to a financial claim been made against the individual/club or association for which they are legally liable.
What is the limit of indemnity?
- Limit of indemnity β¬1,300,000.
Example:
- Risk Assessment for an event deemed insufficient and competitor injured β action taken against the club/organisation.
What does Personal Accident Insurance cover?
Cover for all members of Canoeing Ireland whilst:
- At any ground or premises where the Insured has arranged a meeting or training session for the purpose of taking part in an organised event;
- Travelling, other than by air, to or from events as a member of an organised party under the direction of the Insured;
- Engaging in any social activity organised by the Insured.
