Youth Kayak Academy 2020

The principle aim of the Youth Kayak Academy is to provide further training opportunities for young people (between ages of 10-16) to further develop their kayaking skills. It also aims to provide further opportunities for junior canoeists to continue their participation in the sport.

Kayaking Essentials

This is open to anyone between the ages of 10 and 13 years who has completed a Level 1 Kayak skills course

Kayaking Progression

This is open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 16 who holds the Level 2 Kayak Skills Award

Kayaking Advanced

This is open to anyone between the ages of 14 and 18 who holds the Level 3 kayak Skills award

  • Recap of Level 1 & 2 skills
  • Level 3 skills training
  • Coaching Clinics in competitive disciplines
  • Short River Trips and more

Kayak Academy Dates 

Cost for Term 2 in 2020

  • Kayaking Essentials – €185 per term
  • Kayaking Progression – €220 per term
  • Kayaking Advanced – €350 per term

What to bring

The Training Centre will supply all the kayaking gear. Students need to bring appropriate clothing for under the wetsuit, Shorts/Swimming gear, warm fleece/hoodie or thermal that can get wet and also old runners and a towel

Children must be signed in and out of the Academy every day by a parent or guardian
